Fields of Remembrance - thank you

On Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th November, over 60 employees from BAE Systems in the UK volunteered their time to The Royal British Legion and planted over 26,000 crosses in the Fields of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey, London and Cathays Park, Cardiff.

Michelle Campbell, Corporate Fundraising Manager for The Royal British Legion, said "I would like to thank BAE Systems for helping us with this task. This is a very important part of our work as the Field displays thousands of messages on poppy crosses from our kind supporters to the loved ones they have lost during times of war.

"The last couple of years it has taken three solid days to complete the Garden. This year for the very first time, due to the generous support and hard work of BAE Systems volunteers, we managed to finish the planting in less than a day and a half".

This has been a wonderful example of cross-site volunteering and shows what BAE Systems employees can achieve when they work together. In total, the team clocked over 400 volunteering hours for Charity Challenge. Thank you to all employees who took part.
