SCS has concentrated on better aligning the company's central Research & Technology investment to specific opportunities and placing more focus and rigour into the development of Themes, centred on the creation of business prospects for BAE Systems' wider organisation.
To date these Themes have included autonomy, ISTAR, missile defence, military joint training and energy & power management.
The Business is involved in major transformational work on Through Life Capability Management (TLCM), partnerships and engagement with the supply chain.
In addition to the emphasis on the development of transformational technologies, capabilities and processes for use across BAE Systems, Strategic Capability Solutions manages the Indirect Fire Precision Attack Assessment Phase contract, including the Loitering Munition Capability Demonstrator and provides contracted project management skills to the UK's Missile Defence Centre.
