Individual Businesses retain responsibility for funding the development of technology for specific programmes, while SCS takes the lead in developing technologies with potential application across a range of Businesses, programmes and capability areas.
SCS' Integrated Capability & Technology Programme (ICTP) works with a variety of partners across the industrial and academic communities. To date it has worked with 175 industrial partners, 120 small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and 110 Academic institutions.
The Programme is divided into three distinct areas:
The Transformational Technology Programme (TTP)
The TTP focuses on four distinct, strategically important areas - autonomy, ISTAR, networks and information systems and Through Life Capability Management. Delivered by the Advanced Technology Centre (ATC), the TTP operates a 'make, buy or partner approach' whereby key disruptive technologies are brought into to the business through either in-house development, purchase from the supply chain or in partnership with another organisation.
The Engineering Capability Programme (ECP)
The ECP is divided into four key areas - modelling & behavioural sciences, defence & electronic technologies, platform technologies and photonics & electro optics. Also delivered by the ATC, the ECP addresses the need for enhanced engineering capability and knowledge throughout the business.
The Capability Augmentation Programme (CAP)
The CAP combines Business Unit and Operating Group developed capabilities and technologies with those under development through the centrally funded programme to achieve higher levels of systems readiness. It is delivered in partnership by BAE Systems' global Businesses.
