BAE Systems Avionics Group has today (Monday 19 July 2004) unveiled its Mil Design Bureau Mi-24 helicopter in BAE Systems corporate livery at Farnborough International. The helicopters appearance at Farnborough is the first time that the aircraft has appeared at an airshow having been moved for the first time from its company base at Rochester. The helicopter is being used by BAE Systems in support of its efforts to win avionics upgrades orders for both fixed wing and rotary legacy platforms.
At Farnborough the equipment on the aircraft will include an integrated Titan 385 Turret and a Sky Guardian Radar Warning Receiver.
BAE Systems acquired the serviceable aircraft and repainted it in corporate livery in July 2003 as part of the companys 5 million on-going investment in support of winning avionics upgrades orders for both fixed wing and rotary platforms.
The helicopter is positioned outside of the entrance into the BAE Systems corporate chalet.
Jim Field, BAE Systems Head of Campaign Battlefield Systems, said: BAE Systems is delighted to have our helicopter in corporate livery at FI2004, which is a first for the aircraft and for Farnborough.
Our state of the art avionics upgrade systems in both the fixed and rotary wing legacy aircraft markets offer enhanced aircraft life extension, and all weather 24-hour operation around an integrated Mission System. We have a proven pedigree in working as a part of a team in a number of NATO joint programmes. All of the systems and sub-systems offered by BAE Systems are in use with the armed forces of NATO founder members UK and US and on most European military aircraft providing a track record of interoperability.
