26 Feb 2004

Adelaide electronic warfare (EW) specialist, Dr John Bartlett, from BAE Systems Australia, has been officially recognised for his work in developing EW capabilities.

He has been awarded the Ross Treharne Shield which recognises work which contributes significantly to the advancement of EW systems and to the technological edge of the Australian Defence Force.

On receiving the award, Dr Bartlett said, The team at BAE Systems Australia has made a tremendous effort to develop Australias EW capability. It is gratifying to know our work will lead to far safer platforms for our defence forces to use and be protected from hostile action.

Dr Bartlett has served the EW community as both a defence civilian and a defence industry member for over 36 years and has been instrumental in the advancement of airborne EW systems in Australia.

The Ross Treharne shield is awarded by the board of the Australian AOC chapter to outstanding individuals in the field.
