SAN DIEGO, California — BAE Systems has named Susan Lowenstam chief counsel for its National Security Solutions and Center for Transformation units, based in San Diego. She will support both organizations’ operations in San Diego and Reston, Va. Lowenstam has served as general counsel for BAE Systems’ Platform Solutions line of business in Los Angeles since joining the company in 2003. She previously was general counsel for General Atomics and The Aerospace Corporation
She has been a reviewer for the National Technology Transfer Center, a member of the Army Science Board, and has served on several ad hoc committees for the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board. Lowenstam also has acted as a judge pro tem and arbitrator in the Santa Monica and Los Angeles courts.
Lowenstam earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Chicago, where she was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and a Woodrow Wilson Scholarship. She received her juris doctor from the New York University School of Law and attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University.
