BAE Systems Appoints Diane G. Dempsey as Director of Small Business Relations for Customer Solutions

ROSSLYN, Va. – BAE Systems has announced the appointment of Diane G. Dempsey as the Director for Small Business Relations for its Customer Solutions business. She will be responsible for providing guidance and leadership in small business relations for the organization and for developing its small business programs.

The newly created position will ensure BAE Systems’ compliance with U.S. Government small business reporting requirements and will provide oversight to the company’s Mentor Protégé program. Dempsey is providing leadership to a network of the company’s small business liaison officers to further develop and enhance its collaborative efforts in the area of small business advocacy.

“Diane brings extensive experience in the area of small business and in working with organizations that advocate small business utilization,” said Marshall Banker, president of BAE Systems Customer Solutions. “Diane’s strong credentials in small business relations will help BAE Systems to evolve as a leader in the small business community.”

Dempsey joins BAE Systems with more than 25 years of procurement, subcontracts, and supplier diversity experience. Prior to BAE Systems, she served as the Deputy Small Business Liaison Officer for Northrop Grumman Data Systems and GTE Information Systems. Most recently she was the senior manager of the Supplier Diversity Program for Computer Sciences Corporation and its legacy corporation, DynCorp.

For her work in small business relations, she has received the 2004 Office of Small & Disadvantaged Business Utilization Director’s Award from the Environmental Protection Agency as well as the 2004 Advocate of the Year Award from the Virginia Minority Supplier Development Council. She is an active participant in many organizations, serving on multiple committees that advocate for small businesses.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Mary Washington University, as well as a master’s degree in Management and an MBA from the University of Maryland, University College. She has also earned a professional certificate in contracts and procurement from the University of Virginia, a master’s certificate in supply chain management and a master’s certificate in contracts and procurement from the University of Maryland, University College.
