Brough, Yorkshire - A team of 12 BAE Systems employees are stepping out for charity next month by tackling the gruelling 40-mile Keswick to Barrow Walk to raise funds for BLISS (premature baby care), Children with Aids Charity and the Make a Wish Foundation.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the popular event, a sponsored walk through some of the countrys finest landscapes. Employees from the BAE Systems Brough site have participated in the event for the past two years and this years team is hoping to raise over 5000 for their chosen charities.
Alana Williams, BAE Systems Brough Charity Challenge Co-ordinator commented Last year BAE Systems contributed more than 10 million to community investment globally and employees at Brough are always keen to contribute towards this success. The training has been hard work but it will be worth it to raise much needed funds for these worthwhile charities.
The team has also received a great deal of support from suppliers including Enterprise, Hertz, Pattonair, Wesco and Apollo.
The route for the walk starts on the southern side of the town of Keswick and winds its way through the Lake District to the Victorian town of Barrow-in-Furness on the coast of the Irish Sea. This years walk takes place on Saturday 6th May.
