BAE Systems is supplying add-on armor for the U.S. Army's Stryker vehicles under a contract issued in March 2005. The add-on reactive armor solution from BAE Systems for Stryker further enhances the survivability of the system. BAE Systems is providing 289 full-vehicle Add-on Armor (AOA) kits and miscellaneous spares to coincide with the delivery of the fourth brigade of Stryker vehicles to the Army.
The production award followed an initial contract to integrate and qualify AOA packages for Stryker and its variants. The BAE Systems AOA kit completed live-fire testing and product qualification testing in 2004.
The company had previously developed an add-on reactive armor package for the M8 Armored Gun System.
